Root canal is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The term "root canal" comes from the cleaning of the canals inside a tooth's root. Decades ago, root canal treatments often were painful. With dental advances and local anesthetics, most people have little if any pain with a root canal. In fact, it's probably more painful living with a decayed tooth. Root canal alternatives include extracting the damaged tooth and replacing it with a dental implant, bridge, or removable partial denture.

Do I Need a Root Canal?
Although root canals are common, Dr. Sufia Palluck only recommends one when there are no other viable treatment options. Signs that may indicate you need the procedure can include:
Significant pain when eating or placing pressure on the tooth.
Lingering sensitivity when eating or drinking something that is hot or cold.
A pimple-like bump appearing near the tooth.
Darkening of the tooth.
Tenderness or swelling of the gum tissue.
If you have a severely damaged tooth giving you grief, you may be tempted to have it extracted to eliminate the problem. While this may seem like an easy solution, you have another option. At Somerset Dental, we can save compromised teeth with root canals in Las Vegas, NV. Although they have a bad reputation for being painful, new advancements in dentistry now make them no worse than a traditional filling. We can restore your smile using a simple endodontic treatment.

We have been going to Somerset Dental for the last few years and are so happy that we found them. The front desk staff is very kind and attentive they know who your family members are and what’s going on. My hygienist is very caring and makes me feel very comfortable. I don’t mind seeing my dental appointments come up anymore. Dr. Somerset is amazing and her and her team show you they care.

I had a wonderful experience at Somerset Dental. The staff is super friendly, efficient and accommodating. My hygienist Ally was beyond knowledgeable and very gentle. She was soft spoken and really put me at ease. Dr. Palluck was equally comforting and I trusted her expertise. I’ve already made an appointment to have my teeth whitened and have some bonding replaced. I really love their practice and I’m actually looking forward to having my smile updated before a family vacation. Scheduling was super easy by the way!

The receptionists during check in were very friendly and accommodating. The dental hygienist was very through and felt she took her time and really cleaned my teeth gently. Sufia the actual dentist was fabulous. Provided me with another through exam and didn’t rush. Gave me some options to keep my teeth in tip top shape. I’ll definitely be coming back.
